September 24, 2024
Good evening,
It is with sad news we inform you of the passing of CMP Inc. Board Member and former Vice Chairman Robert “Bob” Harper.
Bob took care of the grass cutting for several years at Confederate Memorial Park. He also provided the rocks from Missouri that were placed near the Missouri flagpole. Our prayers are with his wife Monie, son Jesse and family at this challenging time.
Robert “Bob” Eugene Harper, 69 of Lexington Park, Maryland, passed away on September 9, 2024 in LaPlata, Maryland with his wife at his side.
Born in Potosi, Missouri on November 20, 1954, he was the son of the late Bobby Gene Harper and Ramona Annabelle Harper (nee: Barth).
Bob received his Bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and was a veteran of the United States Navy with 6 years of dedicated service. In 2020 he retired from Patuxent River Naval base as a Logistics Engineer for the Department of Defense. He was an avid Fisherman and Hunter and a very proud Dad. He enjoyed watching his son, Jesse play football and his daughter, Chrissy play softball and was even part of the board for Parks and Recreation for several years. In his free time, helped his friend on his family farm, cheered on his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Edmona “Monie” Lee Harper, his son Jesse Harper (Katie), and his grandchildren, Zachary and Amelia. He is also survived by his three sisters, Susan, Judy, and Cindy.
Bob is tragically preceded in death by his beloved daughter Christine who passed in 2004 at just 21. The loss of Chrissy left an undeniable hole in the family’s hearts, and they take comfort in knowing that Bob is now with her and will be laid to rest at her side.
Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, Wounded Warriors Project in Bob’s Honor.
The Annual Point Lookout Memorial Service (Program Attached below) and Descendants meeting will take place Saturday October 12th at 11am at Confederate Memorial Park, rain or shine. Hopefully shine!
Lunch will be served after the Point Lookout Memorial Service and then the Descendants meeting will follow immediately after lunch.
We will supply the flowers for the Descendants to place at the Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery. We need a headcount for the flowers and lunch.
Additionally, anyone wishing to camp out or if they have a self-contained RV are welcome to join us at Confederate Memorial Park. We will help set up tents Thursday afternoon.
Please respond if you are planning to attend the Point Lookout Memorial Service and Descendants meeting.
Parking in the front lot at Confederate Memorial Park is reserved for the handicapped and the Color Guard. Everyone else, please park in the backfield through the back gate.
We were informed from our supplier that the recent Memorial Brick order sent in July, are in transit to us. We will contact all the donors after we install the Memorial Bricks at Confederate Memorial Park. Presently, we have eight Memorial Brick orders towards the next order to our supplier once we meet the minimum of ten Memorial Brick orders.
We are looking forward to seeing and discussing the improvements and future projects with everyone.
Always for their memory,
